We are almost at the end of April and it has been a month of Autism awareness in Dubai. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the annual autism awareness campaign was launched on the 2nd of April which is World Autism Awareness Day.
Autism is a lifelong, developmental condition that affects the way a person communicates, interacts and processes information. The term 'autism spectrum' refers to the range of ways the condition presents itself in an individual which can vary greatly from person to person as well as throughout their life.

This month a new character was aired on the famous children’s television series Sesame Street. Julia is a four-year-old girl with Autism who is friends with other characters Elmo and Abby and was introduced as part of Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children initiative. Just like Sesame Street, JPS has always been one of the most inclusive places in town, celebrating diversity, difference and individuality. Here at school we encourage all children to be celebrated and accepted for who they are. |
